the week in a snap.
So, I’m 27 now. I had the happiest birthday and night…the kind of happy that makes you think long and hard before blowing out candles. What would I wish for, you know? I received the most thoughtful things from the most thoughtful people, including one very blog-inspired gift: photography 101! Good or bad, I’ll be sure to share the results. We spent the rest of the long weekend on a sunny, music-filled road trip to the hottest mama-to-be’s co-ed bbq shower (read: party). As expected, 27 is already pretty awesome.

the week in a snap.
This past week was a busy one and this week will be, too. It’s all worth it though, as my holiday countdown is finally in full-force.
A few friends and I went to see Chloe on the weekend, only to be met at the theatre by a flashing sold-out sign. We saw The Runaways instead and left wanting to be in a 1970′s alt-grrl rock band. Hope you have a lovely Monday.

gimme moore.
I really, really want to see Chloe. Vanity Fair described it as a film that “explores the dizzying complexity of sex” – and normally, that alone would be enough to coax me to the theatre. But there’s more. It’s directed by Atom Egoyan, it’s set (and based) in Toronto and the screenwriter is that of the twisted and seductive love story, Secretary. And yes, of course I want to see the scene that consumed a thousand reviews. I mean, have you seen Julianne Moore?

Any takers? Have a lovely weekend! xo.
the week in a snap.
Over the last week I discovered that Essie’s Greenport works for any occasion, experienced the addictiveness of Chatroulette (SheDoestheCity described it as “a scary place – but slightly thrilling!” Exactly.) and learned a lot from Toronto’s Blog Stars. I didn’t take any pictures of the latter, but you can find that and more at Raymi’s, Sean’s and Casie’s blogs, if you like.

seeing stars.
Last night, a few friends and I went to a great event called Toronto Blog Stars, a sort of “how-to” from a few of Toronto’s top bloggers. Sean Ward, Casie Stewart and my personal fave, Raymi the Minx were full of really helpful, smart and funny advice. All three were amazing, insightful speakers – here are a few of my favourite quotes from the evening:
You can’t fly with the eagles if you’re with the seagulls. -Casie
People are always surprised (when they meet me) that I don’t talk in caps lock. -Raymi
There is good attention and bad attention, but Google doesn’t know the difference. -Sean
Haters are the most loyal people ever. They complain that you’re boring and come back the next day to make sure you’re still boring. -Raymi

I feel inspired today. xo.

It’s a beautiful day to be (part) Irish.
When I was 16, my dad worked in Ireland off-and-on for a year and as a result, my brother and I spent a few weeks visiting him in Dublin. I fell in love with the city and the kind, spirited people that I met there. I loved the shamrocks that the bartenders would draw in the foam of each pint of Guinness and I especially loved their motto: “If you can see over the bar, you’re old enough for a drink.”
Our city is gorgeous today – I hope that you go outside and enjoy it.

I love this tote from the Drake General Store. It makes me want to go on a picnic.
