I recently stumbled across 1000 Awesome Things - a simple, funny and completely heartwarming blog. It’s a countdown of 1000 things in life that are just plain awesome.  How cool is that?  I thought I would share a selection of my favourites from the list, mostly because reading them made me really happy.

#771 Waking up before your alarm clock and realizing you’ve got lots of sleep time left

#890 Really, really tall people (…read: my boyfriend. especially next to me.)

#569 Sharing your stories with friends

#913 Having a whole row by yourself on the plane

#530 Listening to couples tell you how they met

#831 When someone names their kid after you (…and yes, middle names count.)

#592 Your mom’s scrambled eggs (…or, you know, mom’s everything.)

#689 When somebody holds the elevator door for you

#743 Taking your high heels off at the end of the night and walking home in bare feet

#733 Laughing so hard you make no sound at all

#699 A long hug when you really need it

#698 Listening to your new favorite song over and over again

#511 The moment on vacation when you forget what day of the week it is

#910 When you arrive at your destination just as a great song ends on the radio

#895 Getting something with actual handwriting on it in the mail

#656 When the plane suddenly speeds up on the runway

#601 Getting through it (…and by it, I mean a really-tricky, totally-worth-it long distance relationship.)

#583 Drawing on steamy mirrors with your fingers

#528 When your pet notices you’re in a bad mood and comes to see you (…obviously, one of the most awesome.)

#508 Dropping your cell phone on the sidewalk and then realizing it’s totally fine

Last night, a few friends and I went to a great event called Toronto Blog Stars, a sort of “how-to” from a few of Toronto’s top bloggers. Sean Ward, Casie Stewart and my personal fave, Raymi the Minx were full of really helpful, smart and funny advice. All three were amazing, insightful speakers – here are a few of my favourite quotes from the evening:

You can’t fly with the eagles if you’re with the seagulls. -Casie

People are always surprised (when they meet me) that I don’t talk in caps lock. -Raymi

There is good attention and bad attention, but Google doesn’t know the difference. -Sean

Haters are the most loyal people ever. They complain that you’re boring and come back the next day to make sure you’re still boring. -Raymi

I feel inspired today. xo.
