classic.
I’m not usually a fan of matchy-matchy outfits, but this look really works for me.

…this may be partly due to the fact that I love a really red, really bold lip. My typical go-to is MACs cult-classic, Russian Red, but I’m always searching for new, punchy shades of scarlet. I want Kate’s.

london calling.
The Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010 RTW collection has me gasping for air. I’m enamoured by the collection of jackets – oversized shearling, giant collars, cropped and military-infused – not to mention the perfectly paired slinky garments and accessories. Christopher Bailey is a genius.

Also: nineties stylings were all over the runways at NYFW and now LFW, too. Most of all? High-sheen velvet (yes, even Burberry). Maybe I was on to something. Don’t worry, you can still borrow it.

happiness is…
Delish leftovers from a meal made for moi.
A collection of new glossies on the coffee table, untouched.
Long-distance phone calls from a best friend.
Snow-covered ground, spring holiday, booked.

west hollywood.
Not only is his photography gut-wretchingly pretty, but oooh, so is his apartment. Max Wanger’s art deco-inspired Hollywood home is featured on Design Sponge today – isn’t it lovely? I love all of the artwork and photos displayed in his living room and work space and I especially love the paper wall hangings behind his bed. Also: I would like that bird print please and thanks.

vera for gold.
After a long week of this and that, I was determined to go to sleep at a normal time last night. But! Figure skating! Nevermind. I’m so glad I watched, though mostly because of Evan Lysacek’s snake and sequin-adorned outfit a la Vera. Gold, obviously.

my type.
I really, really love typographic prints. I recently purchased one that reads, simply: “a little bird told me” and for that reason, it’s perfect. I think these are cute, too.

But most of all, I love the Smiths:

daydreaming.
I fell hard on the way to work today and ripped a pair of my lovely Hue tights. But it’s ok. Not even the snowiest slip could ruin my summertime mood.

la lolita.
I simply cannot stop thinking about socks. This trend has been going on for quite some time (namely, Burberry), but it seems that more and more collections and editorials are featuring the girly legware. The look is all over the place at NYFW and I honestly can’t get enough. I want to wear them with strappy heels and pair them with everything from minis and trenches to cropped pants. I know many will disagree, I mean, even saying the words “socks with sandals” can make a person cringe. But I think it’s so chic and somehow, so effortless. Count me in.

somewhere over the rainbow.
Sometimes beautiful is enough.
- Marc Jacobs, February 15, 2010
While his new collection may not be entirely groundbreaking in terms of concept, I think it is exquisite. I love how he plays with texture (varied forms of velvet, tweed, sequins, knits and fur), the muted, pretty palettes used throughout and most of all, the pairing of silk socks with pumps. I’ve already watched the show three times – you can, too, if you like.

gold rush.
Oooooh…working on a holiday is tough. For those of you still curled up and cozy in your warm beds, I hope that you enjoy it.
On a completely unrelated note, the Olympics have officially brought out my patriotic side. In honour of our first gold medal on home soil, the CN Tower has illuminated the city in a bright gold hue – I’m completely charmed. Also! One of my best girls is currently in Vancouver, where she is sharing her talents as a volunteer for the next few weeks. Read her behind-the-scenes words here.
